Faith in the Church but no so much in Men
09.28.06 (6:25 am)   [edit]

I came to he Church through apologetics 11 or 15 years ago, depending on how I count, and I have not lost an ounce of faith in the Church but being one who knew no other pope than jp2,this is a jolting time.

While many "conservatives" have praised the Pope for his supposed support of traditional Catholic morality, the network of friends that I talk to has warned that this is just more Vatican smoke and mirrors. For whereas the moral conclusions of the Church may, for the time being, remain apparently the same, the traditional Catholic theological premises to reach the conclusions are being changed to accord to the secularized new order.

This has already happened in the case of Catholic marriage, in which the personal satisfaction of the parties has been so elevated over the primary purpose of the raising of children that the Church has engineered a system of rampant divorce (which it calls "annulment," so as not to appear to violate Our Lord's own words and so as not to disturb Catholic sensitivities). In 1968 there were 338 annulments in the U.S.; in 1991, there were 63,933. Obviously, the Church has changed its theology, whatever the pope appears to say.

Then, just as the network of friends that I talk to predicted years ago, as soon as the Church equated the life of a criminal justly subjected to capital punishment with the life of a fetus in abortion, the anti-abortion movement would collapse. In fact, for all intents and purposes, this issue has fallen off the political agenda. Yes, it gets lip-service, but little else, whereas in past years outraged citizens marched and cajoled their governmental representatives.

Then there was the scandal about the Church "gay" seminaries, about which the Pope did essentially nothing and so disappointed the "conservative" Churchgoers that they actually, for the first time we can remember, attacked the pope as not Catholic.

Now three Canadian Members of Parliament who identify themselves as "Catholic" have cited Vatican II as the justification for their supporting the change in law identifying homosexual unions as "marriage" in Canada. the Church M.P. Tony Martin stated that his support for "gay" marriage came out of the Second Vatican Council, saying that it was "all about tolerance, openness to the world, and social justice." the Church M.P. Charlie Angus stated that it was specifically Catholic [the Church] teaching that inspired him to defend "minority rights" in supporting the "gay" marriage law. the Church M.P. Joe Comartin concurred: "What my faith taught me was his Christ's love for humanity was an absolute fundamental, in many respects overriding all other considerations." All three of these "Catholic" M.P.'s have been long-time supporters of unlimited abortion on demand as part of their "absolute fundamental" commitment to minority rights. [Source: Life Site News]

What is the point of trying to deny the Blessed Sacrament to such "Catholic" politicians? The Church has lost any such authority as it admonishes the Church politicians to allow their religious beliefs to guide their public decisions. Well, the Pope has gotten what he asked for, since these "Catholic" M.P.'s are quoting his Vatican II against him. And remember that it was the Pope himself who was a major force in imposing Modernism on Vatican II!

Why did the Pope Apologise?
09.23.06 (11:04 pm)   [edit]
Some of our recent popes are harder to understand than a Ouija board! Pope Benedict correctly intimated in a speech during his recent Regensburg trip that Mohammed was "only evil and inhuman," who commanded that the Mohammedan sect be "spread by the sword." When that quotation caused an international outcry in the Islamic world, the Pope issued a kind of apology, stating that he was "deeply sorry" about the angry reaction to his speech. (Source: Associated Press)

Now in Islamic and Iraq, he is being burned in effigy as a crusader and a "worshippper of the Cross." al-Quida has warned him that he and the West are "doomed" and that its holy war against the West will continue.

Well, a Mohammedan tried to assassinate one conciliar pope -- and almost succeeded. Is Benedict next in line? Already an Italian nun was killed at a children's hospital in Mogadishu on September 17, 2006, in an attack that was immediately linked to Muslim anger over the pope's recent remarks on Islam.

As one correspondent put it:

Let's face it: the words he [Benedict] spoke were true. But in the ensuing apologies he and the vatican maintain their esteem for Islam. Now how can that be? To criticize Mohammed is to criticize Islam. I just cannot help wondering whether this was a calculated action. B16 is no dummy. But now he is denying that these thoughts were held by him. Then why read the quote? What about the atrocities the Mohammedans committed against Catholic churches? Something is not right.

So why did the pope apologize? The quotation that the pope used, from a Christian Byzantine emperor, was right on the mark. The Mohammedans as a group support the Koran's call for violence to impose their sect. And on June 1, 1999, kissed the Koran that contained the death instructions, giving his papal "blessing" to the killing of Christians contained in that book, in which Mohammed says:

    * "Kill those who join other gods with Allah wherever you find them; besiege them, seize them, lay in wait for them" (Sura 9:5)
    * "When you encounter the unbelievers, strike off their heads, until ye have made a great slaughter among them" (Sura 47:4)
    * "Proclaim a grievious penalty to those who reject the faith [of Mohammed]" (Sura 9:3)

It is hard to imagine that a vatican diplomat of Benedict's experience would make such a faux pas, or that the vatican vetters of his speech would not have caught it. Is it just possible that the pope has a subconscious death wish? Thrice he asked JPII's permission to leave the vatican and retire to Germany to write, dialogue with his students, and play his beloved Mozart on the piano. Thrice he was denied.

He was elected at age 78 and is now only a year short of 80, the mandatory retirement age for cardinals. Although at one time he might have wanted to be pope, probably he no longer had that desire by 2005. Yet, he probably felt that he had to accept election so that the church would not be torn apart by feuds between Modernists and "conservative" Novus Ordinarians.

Remember, the man has had two strokes in some ten years, and his own brother Georg has publicly informed the press that Newpope has a heart condition. Every photograph one sees of Newpope shows him with an unhappy expression or a sardonic smile. The only photograph really showing Benedict happy was the one, published the ewtn etwork, in which he and his brother were discussing a point of Mozartean interpretation over the piano.

Certainly the pope knows how lethal these Mohammedans are. They tried to kill his papal predecessor. They blew up two of the greatest buildings in the West and sacrificed over 5000 souls in them. The Mohammedans have attacked London and Spain. They recently tried to launch another attack against the United States from London. the pope's faux pas with the Mohammedans is undoubtedly the most puzzling act of his papacy.

As another correspondent summed it up:

So the Pope has apologized for his remarks concerning Muslims. Is anybody surprised? The martyrs who died rather than burn incense to the false Roman Gods must be amazed to see Christ's vicar groveling to another false religion. One thing we can be sure of, there are no potential martyrs in the vatican today, nor in the rest of the Novus Ordo. I glad that I'm not connected in any way with that bunch of traitors to the Faith.
